The days programme included a wide range of activities offering; information and advice, health awareness, creative expression, relaxation, and beautification, the aim to encourage all women to come and get involved.
Happy City spent the day inviting people of Knowle West to share their wisdom on happiness! Some of the shared ‘pearls’ included; ‘a kind word’, ‘to laugh, even when times are hard’, ‘spend time with my family and friends’, and ‘give…its infectious!’.
With a backdrop of shared happiness the day’s events preceded with an energising dance movement session to inspire and motivate people for the day ahead. This dance movement session is a popular weekly session at The Mede…so if you feel like a weekly re-energise then come along (see activity programme for times).
The power of positive thinking was explored through a creative visualisation workshop, followed by meditation, massage and manicures!
With a healthy, and delicious buffet served by Sonja in The Mede Café, energy levels were renewed for the afternoon events!
A representative from Bristol Museum was here to explore how our female self image is formed by changing culture. How fat and thin have both been in…and out! The message was one of both celebration, and acceptance of who you are!!
With jewellery making and fabric painting being a creative activity hit…
Happiness in Knowle West had been expressed!
The event was supported by external agencies, and The Mede would like to thank; Bristol City College, South Bristol Works, Filwood Hope, The Bodyshop, Bristol Museum, Hengrove Beauty College, Knowle West Health Association, Learning Communities Team. The Mede would also like to thank all community members that helped out and shared their skills and creativity!
